The end of the year is in sight, and we’re ready to raise a glass to the best moments of 2017. From our super inspiring adidas Takeover to our heartwarming Ariana Grande community fundraiser, and all the countless, unforgettable dance classes in between, we’re so proud of our ever-growing community and all we’ve achieved this year. A huge thank you to all our students for supporting us in 2017, and to the inspiring brands we have teamed up with to create incredible experiences. Here’s to a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
We Danced Live On The Huffington Post…
Back in 2015 The Huffington Post reviewed the Seen On Screen experience for their ‘Best Dance Classes In London’ feature, and we were thrilled when this year, we teamed up for round two. We hosted a live lunchtime Beyoncé dance class on The Huffington Post’s Facebook page, where SOS instructors Keeley, Nicole and Haley taught a fierce Formation routine to over 50,000 viewers! Watch the live recording here.
And Turned GAP Into A Dance Studio
When GAP called to ask if we’d like to help them launch their latest GapFit range, we were only too pleased to help out. We turned GAP’s flagship store on Oxford Street into a special SOS dance studio, just right for a weeklong series of classes for shoppers, regulars and everyone in between! A few more students on Gap UK’s Facebook page also joined us for our SOS X GAP Facebook Live dance class… 8 million of them, to be precise!
We Joined Forces With WOW Festival…
We love the chance to spread a little SOS love across the UK, and what better way to do so than at the WOW Festival celebrating the power of women and girls? We’re lucky to have partnered with WOW since 2014, and this time around, founder Bonnie Parsons was invited to teach a Beyoncé Run The World (Girls) dance class at WOW Bradford and Chester, while she also spent time speed mentoring at WOW London on International Women's Day.
And strutted over to Boxpark
In April we headed to the buzzing cultural hotspot that is Boxpark Croydon to host our headline masterclass, 'Dance like Beyoncé'. We were joined by 50 fabulous women of all ages and abilities who took to the rooftop with us to unleash their inner Sasha Fierce - just in time for brunch with the fantastic Boxpark traders!
We Took To The National Wedding Show Catwalk...
SOS took to catwalk at London Olympia and the Birmingham NEC as The National Wedding Show's official dance partner for a super fun showcase of first dance tips and advice from SOS founder Bonnie Parsons and SOS instructor extraordinaire Elliot Bodman. Designed to blitz those first dance jitters, Bonnie and Elliot demonstrated a SOS choreographed first dance, followed by a talk focusing on dance floor confidence, helping show goers to master their moves for the big day.
Then Came Together In An Amazing Community Workshop
We were incredibly moved when the amazing SOS community came together earlier this year to raise money in support of the victims of the Grenfell tragedy and the British Red Cross. Inspired by the #OneLoveManchester, we hosted an Ariana Grande workshop with 100% of proceeds going to charity - and the SOS crew truly turned up!
Caggie Dunlop Came To Class...
We loved that Made in Chelsea star, clothing designer and singer Caggie Dunlop joined forces with Seen On Screen for her first ever dance class. #SOSNicole choreographed some diva-esque moves to Caggie’s new song “Here We Are Again” - and judging by her #SOSWeMadeIt, we’d say she’s a natural!
While We Hosted One Helluva Adidas Takeover…
We were super excited when Seen on Screen was invited to host a whole week of classes at the stunning adidas Women’s Studio, 152 Brick Lane! From morning to evening, we delivered 15 Pop Fit sessions to packed studios of fabulous women ready to dance and let their hair down. We strutted like Beyoncé, danced to girl power playlists and felt incredibly inspired by the fantastic women we met during our takeover.
And Paid Homage To The Late, Great Tupac
To celebrate the release of All Eyez On Me, the incredible biopic about hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, Lionsgate Films asked Seen on Screen to choreograph a special dance class for press and influencers. Complete with Tupac-themed dress up, rap classics and plenty of swag, SOS instructor Elliot treated some of the most badass ladies in music and fitness to the ultimate California Love experience, including DJ Harriet Rose, BBC Radio 1Xtra Broadcaster Jamz Supernova, fitness and lifestyle blogger Alya Mooro and model Rio Fredrika. Watch Harriet Rose's very funny, and cool review here.
But Most Of All...We Liked The Way You Moved!
Call us biased, but as far as awesome dance classes go, 2017 has the been an outstanding year for the #SOSCrew! From the amazing divas who slayed this Selena Gomez ‘Fetish’ routine, and the fierce attitude on show for Wolfgang’s weekly swag sessions, to this epic Chris Brown ‘Questions’ link-up, our sold out Wild Thoughts workshop above, and Allie’s Monday night servings of sass, the #SOSWeMadeIt feed has been on fire all year long! As we always say, it’s not your immediate ability that’s important, but your journey to finding self confidence, and feeling comfortable in your own skin that matters - and our students are proof of the transformative power of dance.
