Class Etiquette

SOS Values

Seen on Screen exists to create a fun, empowering, supportive environment where students can let go and take a weight off their shoulders, completely judgement free.

We support, encourage and respect one another.

Seen on Screen does not tolerate rudeness or unkindness is anyway.

If you attend a SOS class, you must uphold our values and class etiquette at all times.

Class Levels

We want to make sure you get the SOS experience designed for you so please take the below into consideration when deciding which class level to book.

You are very welcome to email [email protected] or give us a call if you would like advice, and/or pointing in the right direction - we’re here and happy to help!

SOS offer four experience/ability levels:

★ Beginner

★ All Levels

★ Intermediate

★ Advanced

Click the 'Levels' link at the top of the page to find out more about our level breakdown.

Please double check the level of the class you’re booking in to as the class will be taught at this level. We want to make sure you have the best time possible so it’s super important you take this into account when booking.

If you don’t get the steps straight away

*this is totally normal and happens in every class!

Learning a dance routine is a work in progress so it’s important to focus on step by step progress - over perfection. Don’t put any pressure on yourself, just let go and pretend you’re Beyoncé! It’s what we (as instructors) do!

Ask questions!

It can take a little bit of time to get used to the steps, so please be patient, and remember you can always pop your hand up and ask the SOS instructor for help… It’s what we’re here for and some 1:1 assistance can make a big difference.

Please don’t be shy. Teaching and helping you is our job and what we love to do. There’s no such thing as a stupid question, and if you’re thinking it - chances are, other students will be too!

All we ask is that you do not shout out your questions while the instructor is talking/teaching. If you put your hand up or say “Bonnie, I’m struggling with this step… etc”, we’ll go through anything you need straight away.

Talking in class

If you come to class with friends, it’s natural to have a giggle, however please do not talk over the instructor.

Late to class

If you are late to class, please slip in at the back and make the SOS instructor aware you have arrived so they can mark you as present on our class register. Please do not interrupt the class so wait until the teacher is at the sound system, or at the back of the studio close to you (the sound systems are usually at the back of the studio!)

Please do not stand in front of a student who arrived on time for obvious reasons!

Waiting lists

If you are more than 5 minutes late, your place may be given to a student who is on the waitlist, and who has arrived to be on standby incase a place does become available last minute.

The below classes have waitlists every week so please be aware of this when planning time to get to class….

Monday

Pop

Tuesday

SWEAT

Thursday

Diva
Commercial

Late cancellations / No shows

If you cancel with 24 hours notice or more, you’re credit will be automatically returned to your account so you can re-use it when you please, but please be sure to check your credit expiry date (click the 'Pricing' link at the top of the page).

If you know you’re going to have to cancel class outside our 24 hour cancellation window, please do email us to explain why. We’ll always do our best to be understanding and accommodate you if something happened which was out of your control (such as a tube delay, last minute meeting etc). We may be able to credit your account so you can rebook into another class. However, if you do not turn up and do not email us to explain why, you will lose your credit.

If you do not show up to a class you have pre-booked, you will lose your credit.

feeling unwell or need to leave early

If you need to leave the class early, please notify the instructor at the start of class (otherwise they’ll think you didn’t have a good time or something was wrong!). If you’re feeling unwell, please notify the SOS instructor immediately and they can call for assistance.

SOS Community

The majority of SOS newbies do feel a little nervous and shy for their first class so if you’ve been coming to SOS for a while, please remember what it feels like to come into a new environment for the first time. Always be kind, welcoming, encouraging and friendly :)

CONTACT

If you would like to speak through any of the above, please contact us on [email protected] and we’ll be very happy to answer any questions you may have, or talk this through with you.
